Echotopia® is Baltimore's garden-based, zero-waste and biodiversity building cleaning products business.
At Echotopia® we sell laundry detergent, kitchen and bath all-surface scouring scrub, and hand scrub powder: each fragrant, biodegradable, and safe. We provide a convenient refill station at farmers markets for trash-free and plastic-free purchases. Our ingredients include our home-grown herbs, essential oils, locally made biodegradable castile soap, and a few natural, U.S. sourced minerals. We engage in regional and fair trade partnerships. Our unique Seed Rounds contain native wildflower seeds for planting, for feeding pollinators and for promoting biodiversity. We believe in learning from, and reciprocity with, our natural systems.
Echotopia® has a positive impact on the environment and on the local living economy.

An Echotopia® purchase is an investment in body, home, community, earth with immediate, positive impact. Our product ingredients are natural and are grown or purchased locally, regionally, or in another area of the U.S. Echotopia® cleaners promote health and safety, are biodegradable, and don't contain deadly chemicals. We honor business partners with fair trade payment. Our containers are made regionally or elsewhere in the U.S. Our child-friendly cleaners get the job done!
Echotopia® implements cleaner, greener practices, reducing public and environmental health costs of body and household cleaning. Our work space uses over 50% LESS electricity than the average U.S. home. In 2019, we will transition to using 80% local community solar power using Neighborhood Sun (learn more HERE) and 20% wind power. We also use salvaged, compostable or recyclable materials at every opportunity, including our manufacturing process and shipping. We are close to our goal of petroleum and plastic-free ingredients and packaging. Echotopia® products and accessories don't contain nasty chemicals that harm our precious waterways. Our reuse containers do not become permanent or dangerous toxic waste destined for landfill, incinerators, or fragile natural settings like parks, trees, and rivers. Echotopia® will implement non-fossil fuel transportation at our earliest opportunity.
Echotopia® partners with our customers in ecosystem restoration, to create local wildflower habitats through another unique product we designed, Echotopia® Seed Rounds: homemade 3" old paper discs embedded with native flower seeds. In our first three years of business, our customers have planted dozens of Seed Rounds, resulting in multiplying wildlife gardens that are feeding embattled bees, birds, butterflies and others in our shared, delicate food chain. Thus, our customers join us in treasuring the natural abundance and potential of the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
Echotopia® is a social enterprise for every one. Together, we can clean it up. Like a melodic echo, Echotopia® is music to our ears.
